As a Fauji i can say that "All the world is a barrack and we are merely Fuji's"

The title of my blog post itself sounds like an essay. But let me delve on it even further to give a little bit of clarity. 


Fauj is known for many things, but a few and famous ones are as follows


A. Uniform: The same uniform for any occasion anywhere in the world.
B. Food: The anda kadi will taste the same, be it Leh or KakiNada.
C. We want our officers and men to think the same, act the same. It has got immense benefits.
D. Culture: The lingo will be the same, the abuses will also generally remain the same. Imagine we have 1652 languages and dialects. The parties that we go to, the way we dress up and address every one else.


OK, so how does it all add up to the title. We Fuji's used to think that outside world is different. There is enough diversity for all of us to understand and enjoy for our life time. But history has always proved us wrong. None of us in the outside world like diversity. Not Hitler, Sunni Pakis, Indian High caste people, IAS or even for that matter G one from the movie Ra one.


We have always wanted others to be in an image of our own. We have hated people who are dark, who eat Non veg, who pray towards the west, who eat with their left hand, who make love through the rear, who wear minimal clothes and pay no taxes in the jungles and what not. 


We just do not want diversity in a very genuine way. Thats the reason the motto " Don't worry if you cant fit in, you were born to stand out" appeals to all of us. It starts the day we were born, i was ambidextrous but somehow i was trained to use my right hand. The reason, i should fit in. Why should i fit in, all that matters is are you gonna hit the bucket a contented man or a guy with many regrets. 


And even if we had wanted to have a uniform society, we are a bunch of hypocrites to keep saying it. We didn't do a thorough job of uniformity. 


A. During partition it should have been a clean exchange. But was it? It was the messiest ever and now all of us are in a precarious situation.


B. There are so many electricity laws for each state.


C. The tax laws, holy cow!!!!! 


D. The school syllabus in single state would make Imraan Hashmi stop kissing and turn a monk.


With all these cases, i just ask the people reading this till now. It doesn't matter if they are different or you are different. All that matters is the sweet and subtle nostalgia of your teens and the fun you had. So let us not make the world a barrack, there are enough already.
